Autumn Blessings
October 1998
For a moment body and soul
Are one with the beating heart of earth ̶
Praise the yellow sunflowers
And the wild fruits ripening.
Now the wondrous autumn light
Steals across the silent lake ̶
Praise asters and the fading phlox
And the energy of chrysanthemums.
Leaves imprint their brilliant hues
Behind the eyes, in the soul's still space ̶
Praise camellias and the crocus of fall.
And the bright pink stars of cyclamen.
